Radiology 2000: Ann S. Fulcher, MD, Appointed Senior Deputy Editor

In the January 1998 issue of Radiology (1), I introduced Ann S. Fulcher, MD, as one of the new Deputy Editors for Radiology. Dr Fulcher received her MD degree in 1987 from the Medical College of Virginia of Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond. After serving a residency in diagnostic radiology at that institution, where she was chief resident, she moved to Andrews Air Force Base in Maryland to complete her military obligation. At Andrews Air Force Base, she served initially as a staff radiologist and subsequently as the chairperson of the Department of Radiology.

Dr Fulcher joined the Department of Radiology at the Medical College of Virginia of Virginia Commonwealth University in 1995 as an assistant professor of radiology. She has delivered many invited presentations and has numerous peer-reviewed publications to her credit, as well as several book chapters. In addition, she is the recipient both of numerous awards for exhibits presented at national meetings and of numerous honors, which include Phi Beta Kappa membership, a Rhodes Scholar candidacy, Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society membership, a Distinguished Resident Award from the American Association of Women Radiologists, selection for the Picker-AUR Faculty Development Program, and the Meritorious Service Medal of the United States Air Force. Currently, Dr Fulcher is a tenured associate professor of radiology and the director of abdominal magnetic resonance imaging at the Medical College of Virginia of Virginia Commonwealth University.

Since joining the Radiology editorial team as Deputy Editor, Dr Fulcher has demonstrated levels of dedication, insight, and thoroughness that can serve as models for the same. She has been an exceptionally highly valued member of our editorial team and is most deserving of her appointment as Senior Deputy Editor of Radiology, recently approved by the Board of Directors of the Radiological Society of North America. Please join me in congratulating Dr Fulcher on her change in appointment.
