The Radiological Society of North America has named Dave Fellers, CAE, as Executive Director, effective January 15, 2001. Mr Fellers replaces Delmar J. Stauffer, who passed away in March.

Mr Fellers has almost 3 decades of experience in every phase of association management. A graduate of the University of Central Oklahoma, Mr Fellers began his career in association management in 1971 with the Oklahoma Oil Marketers Association. In 1978, he became executive vice president and chief executive officer (CEO) of the Texas Oil Marketers Association. Since 1986, Mr Fellers has dedicated himself to health-related associations, beginning with the American Nurses Association where he served as the Division Director of Business and Professional Services and was responsible for a division that included various departments, including Public Affairs, Communications, Meetings, Marketing, Credentialing Services, and Insurance Programs.

As executive director and CEO of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons from 1991 to 1999, Mr Fellers rebuilt the organization, coordinated the development of a $5 million Foundation Endowment Fund, and oversaw an annual meeting featuring 600 exhibits and 120 scientific sessions.

Mr Fellers was also extensively involved in government relations and successfully campaigned to pass federal legislation that benefited both women and children in the fields of plastic and reconstructive surgery. In addition, he helped develop an award-winning newspaper, clinical journal, and Web site for members and the public.

In 1999, Mr Fellers became the executive director and CEO of the American Association of Neurological Surgeons, where he managed a staff of 65 and a budget of $14 million. Mr Fellers was responsible for coordinating a major turnaround for this national medical specialty society, increasing efficiency, developing new strategic business plans, and substantially expanding public awareness of neurosurgery.

A native of Oklahoma, Mr Fellers is married and the father of two daughters.
