Note.—DCIS = ductal carcinoma in situ, FA = fibroadenoma, FD = fibrocystic disease, IBC = invasive breast cancer, LCIS = lobular carcinoma in situ, R/P = radiologic-pathologic, UBO = unidentified bright breast object (ie, suspected hormone-induced enhancement).
*Indicates a mammographically visible index lesion in patients with multicentric breast cancer.
{dagger}This column indicates whether the core biopsy diagnoses were considered sufficiently validated to be included in the calculation of diagnostic accuracy of core biopsy. Sufficient validation was obtained with (a) excisional biopsy or (b) a follow-up MR imaging interval of 24 months or more or by (c) an unambigious R/P correlation.
{ddagger}In this patient, excisional biopsy confirmed radial scar, but the lesion was surrounded by ductal IBC.
§Excisional biopsy revealed ductal IBC.
