Douglas S. Katz, MD

Dr Katz earned his MD degree in 1990 from the State University of New York at Stony Brook School of Medicine. After an internship in internal medicine at Winthrop–University Hospital in Mineola, NY, he trained as a resident in diagnostic radiology at the Health Science Center at Syracuse, NY, where he was a co–chief resident. He subsequently served as a fellow in body imaging in the Department of Radiology, Stanford University Medical Center, California. On completion of his fellowship, he joined the Department of Radiology at Winthrop–University Hospital as an attending radiologist and was appointed assistant professor of clinical radiology at the State University of New York at Stony Brook School of Medicine. Within 2 years of joining that department, he was appointed director of body computed tomography, a position he has held since, and was promoted to associate professor of clinical radiology. Since 2000, he has held the position of vice chair for clinical research and education.

Dr Katz has numerous scientific publications to his credit, has delivered many invited national and regional lectures, and is the recipient of a number of honors, including Phi Beta Kappa and Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society. He is certified in diagnostic radiology by the American Board of Radiology. His expertise encompasses several areas of imaging, in particular body computed tomography and thoracic imaging.

Please join me in warmly welcoming Dr Katz to the masthead of Radiology.
