The Radiological Society of North America (RSNA) is pleased to announce that Giuseppe Guglielmi, MD, has been selected as the 2003 Editorial Fellow.
|
Dr Guglielmi specializes in bone densitometry and osteoporosis. He is currently an associate professor of radiology at the Scientific Institute Hospital in San Giovanni Rotondo, Italy. He is also a research associate with the Osteoporosis and Arthritis Research Group in the Department of Radiology at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF).
My interest and application for the RSNA Editorial Fellowship is related to the aim to learn and understand all the processes which are necessary to produce a publication, such as Radiology or RadioGraphics. In particular, I think that this experience can be helpful in understanding all of the editorial processes, such as how to review different kinds of papers (original manuscripts, state-of-the-art articles, technical notes), to answer reviewers requests, to learn about research, ethics, journalism, and in general, the practice of radiology,
said Dr Guglielmi.
I believe the unique opportunity given by the experience at the editorial offices of Radiology and RadioGraphics can greatly help me as a researcher, author, and editor.
He is currently a manuscript reviewer for European Radiology, European Journal of Radiology, EURORAD, La Radiologia Medica, Calcified Tissue International, and e-Medicine.com.
Dr Guglielmi has authored more than 30 scientific articles, 61 scientific abstracts, and six book chapters. He has co-authored 2 books and has contributed to a teaching video and CD-ROM on bone densitometry and osteoporosis.
Dr Guglielmi earned his MD degree at the Bari University School of Medicine in Italy in 1981. He became board certified in radiology in 1986 after continued training at the Bari School of Specialization in Radiology. He trained for 3 additional years at the Bari School of Specialization in Occupational Medicine and became board certified in occupational medicine in 1990.
Dr Guglielmi completed two fellowships in the United States. One was in the Division of Bone and Mineral Diseases at the Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis, Mo; the second was with the Osteoporosis Research Group in the Department of Radiology at UCSF.
Dr Guglielmi holds memberships in the RSNA; the European Skeletal Society of Radiology, where he is one of the founding members of the osteoporosis subcommittee; the Italian Society of Medical Radiology; the International Skeletal Society; the American Society for Bone and Mineral Research; and the International Osteoporosis Foundation.
