Radiology 2004: Robert A. Halvorsen Appointed Book Review Editor

I am especially pleased to introduce Robert A. Halvorsen, MD, who was recently appointed Book Review Editor and thus joins the Radiology editorial team.
Dr Halvorsen obtained his MD degree in 1974 from the University of Miami, Florida. After an internship in medicine, he served as a resident in diagnostic radiology at the University of Texas, San Antonio, and followed that with a fellowship in abdominal imaging at Duke University Medical Center, Durham, North Carolina. He remained at Duke University for several years, where he achieved the rank of associate professor of radiology. He then joined the University of Minnesota, Minneapolis, for a few years before moving to the University of California in San Francisco, where he was initially appointed professor of radiology in residence. He soon was awarded tenure and held the position of vice chairman of radiology at the University of California, San Francisco, for a number of years, as well as chief of radiology at San Francisco General Hospital. In 2000, he moved to the New Jersey Medical School of the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey, Newark, as professor and vice chairman of radiology, where he remained for 2 years before joining the Department of Radiology at the Medical College of Virginia of Virginia Commonwealth University, Richmond, as professor of radiology in 2002.
Dr Halvorsen has numerous publications to his credit, has delivered numerous presentations at national and international meetings, and is the recipient of a number of awards and honors including the Mentor Award at the University of Minnesota Medical School, the Roscoe E. Miller Award of the Society of Gastrointestinal Radiologists, a fellowship in the American College of Radiology, and a fellowship in the American Society of Emergency Radiology, to name a few. He is certified in diagnostic radiology by the American Board of Radiology.
